What is the "C" Suite?

“C” suite or “C-suite” is a term used to refer to a corporation’s senior executives such as their CEO, CFO or CMO. The “C” stands for chief.

Types of "C" Suite Roles and Titles?

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

The CEO is the highest-level corporate executive. The CEO is traditionally the face of the company and oversees the rest of the “C” suite, acting as an advisor.

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

The CFO represents all the finances and accounting throughout the company. This position often manages the company’s investments and conducts financial analysis working closely with the CEO.

Chief Information Officer (CIO)

The CIO is typically a leader in information technology. This roll is important for business strategy and/or risk management. In some companies this roll is also called CTO or Chief Technology Officer.

Chief Marketing Officer (CMO)

A CMO is skilled in managing product development, the company’s brand, and all the marketing initiatives that help bring in prospects and lead them down the sales funnel.

Chief Operations Officer (COO)

The COO is normally the Human Resources (HR) roll within the company. This position manages areas like recruitment, training, legal and other administrative services.
