Above the fold
What is "Above the Fold"?
The term “above the fold” refers to the part of a website that is viewable without requiring the user to scroll. A holdover from print newspapers where only the headlines appearing above the fold could be seen in a newspaper rack.
In this day and age where websites are responsive and constantly shifting, is “above the fold” relevant anymore?
Yes. The exact location of the fold will differ between devices but the concept still exists. What’s presented at the top of your site matters. Users will scroll but you need the content compelling enough to do so.
Usage: “Keep important ecommerce site components above the fold so that site visitors see them right away.”
