A More “Thymely” Delivery System with InsiteShip

Cyclical product demands create wide variations in their shipping requirements. During peak times, The Thymes faced a backlog of pick tickets and needed to staff additional and inexperienced shipping personnel. Often resulting in delayed and inaccurate shipments, The Thymes needed a solution that would keep their customers happy. Insite Software responded to the needs at The Thymes with InsiteShip™, a shipping application that combined wireless barcode units with a paperless picking application and an online order tracking system. InsiteShip provides an efficient and accurate processing environment to meet their needs and improve shipping throughput. Developed exclusively for the manufacturing industry, this robust application automates the entire shipping process from start to finish and fully integrates into the ERP application starting with shipping management through checkout. Insite specializes in bringing together hardware and software solutions, under an umbrella of process improvement, to optimize the needs of each customer. The Thymes implemented RF picking; however, their packers also needed a method to verify what went into each box. The packers use bar coding with the InsiteShip touch screen packing system to optimize speed in packing containers, while validating that the items scanned match the items in the order. With this integration to the ERP system, InsiteShip prevents packers from including items not on the order or from over shipping quantities that do not match the order. InsiteShip also alerts packers when the order has not been packed complete. InsiteShip provides integration to the carrier, which means that UPS rating, routing, and labeling are all automated. This information is then easily integrated into The Thymes website at www.thymes.com to provide access to the order tracking information. Shipped inventory is immediately updated in The Thymes’ ERP so that customer service and pickers always know what items are truly available. InsiteShip Results for The Thymes
