A B2B E Commerce Lesson from Amazon comIf you’ve ever shopped online, you’ve probably visited Amazon.com, if not purchased something from their site. Amazon.com is by far the gold standard in functionality and user experience in the world of ecommerce. Today I am going to share one of my favorite Amazon.com features with you and how similar functionality might help you power your B2B ecommerce success.

My absolute favorite Amazon.com functionality is the ability to purchase an item with one-click. Why? Because it makes it quick and easy to buy from them, especially e-books from my mobile phone or iPad. I simply navigate to the item I want and click on the “Buy now with 1-Click” button and voila! The purchase is made without further action from me. It’s downright magical.

Now, I don’t expect that B2B ecommerce will implement one-click ordering–at least not yet, although I anticipate it won’t be long. What I do expect from B2B organizations that are in the ecommerce space is to make it easy for customers to order from you. In short, make the buying experience downright magical.

What does this mean?

Make your online B2B ecommerce experience as hassle-free as possible to place an order. Make it easy to do business with you. For example, if your customer orders the same items in every order, consider allowing them to review a previous order and add the entire order to their cart with one click. If you have customers that order the same items at regular intervals, offer auto-ship or subscription services so that they get what the need from you without having to remember to place the order. If you have accessories related to the larged products on your site, link to the accessory pages directly from the main product pages. Or consider being on the cutting edge in your industry and offer one-click ordering on the products you offer online.
